Welcome to Island Hopping in the Andaman Sea of Thailand
Sailing the Islands of Thailand's Andaman Sea
The best way to discover Thailand's western coast and the numerous Thailand islands of the Andaman Sea is without question on a bareboat or skippered sailing boat. Starting from Phuket, Thailand's largest island and the hub of the Andaman Sea, your sailing holiday will soon turn into an exciting journey of exploration and an unforgettable holiday. You will find yourself inside those well known colourful holiday brochures, with pearly white beaches fringed by coconut palm trees around you, tropical islands covered in virgin rain forest, crystal clear waters reflecting the dark blue sky and some of the most outstanding snorkelling sites just beside your boat. A benign climate enables year-round sailing.
A bare boat charter trip means total
freedom. After you have taken over the sailing boat and boarded it on
Phuket Island, the programme of your sailing holiday is entirely up
to you. There are no restrictions as to where you can go within Thailand's
Andaman Sea islands. From the fabulous Butang Islands in the Koh Tarutao
archipelago and national park in the very South close to the Malaysian
border to the Koh Similan Islands and the Koh Surin Islands in the North,
where you are close to the Burmese border, you can go wherever you like.
If you do not consider yourself a skilled sailor, we will be happy to
provide you with a skipper for the sailing boat, you are interested
in. As an added benefit, you can use the skippers local knowledge to
your advantage and the fact that he speaks Thai is a further bonus.
Ordering food will be easy and Thai cuisine is probably one of the best
in the world. So dining out will be a pleasure and is so cheap that
you'll rarely cook yourself.
Throughout your sailing vacation, you can buy all basic necessities like fuel, water, fruit and vegetables on many of the islands. The waters are teeming with fish, which you can catch yourself or buy with the local fishermen. Some of the islands have one or more beach-side restaurants where you can have a splendid meal at really acceptable prices. The Thai people are very friendly, there is absolutely none of the harassment yachties often seem to encounter in some other countries and crime against pleasure boaters is virtually unknown.
Our sailing boats are based in Phuket, because Thailand's largest island is well developed and the ideal starting place for your sailing charter. Phuket International Airport has direct connections with many international destinations as well as more than 10 daily flights from Bangkok. In addition, many supermarkets and deli shops are convenient located for provisioning. Custom designed for tropical living and sailing holidays in Thailand, our fleet of bare boat yachts, includes Tiki 38 and Tiki 30 catamarans. They were custom built on Phuket, and are maintained to the highest standards. Catamarans are perfect for sailing vacations to the islands of Thailand in the Andaman Sea region: sufficient deck space, no heeling, next to no draught, plenty of fun to sail and pretty fast. If you are new to sailing or do not feel confident to sail a yacht by yourself, we will be happy to provide you with a qualified skipper. And if you really want to be pampered, inquire about a fully crewed trip on our magnificient Wharram Islander 55. If you always thought that chartering catamarans is expensive, contact us and you will be pleasantly surprised. Especially when you realize that many things are included in our prices.
