Krathom Moken

A charming atmosphere safari-style in the middle of the Andaman Sea, a lovely place on Phra Thong Island, here is the private place called Krathom Moken. Krathom means hut and Moken Huts means the place to live for Moken people.

Moken is the sea gypsy group that lives around the Surin Marine National Park in the Andaman Sea. They do have their own language, simple style of living, special style for fishing or catching anything from the sea.

Amidst the beautiful Andaman Sea, Krathom Moken, a small resort with 26 Moken-style cottages and 4 Moken boat houses is located on Phra Thong Island, off Takuapa in Phang-nga Province. h.

Krathom Moken offers snorkelling in front of the resort, fishing, rainforest hikes, a traditional fishing village and the golden field, savannah-like forest behind the resort. There are many wild animals to spot like hornbills, shy monkeys and wild deers. From Krathom Moken it is easy to go to Surin Islands Marine National Park, the best snorkelling site in Thailand.

Moken-style cottages and Moken boat houses offer separate shower and bath with sea view.

The restaurant is an open-air pavilion over looking the Andaman Sea. The menu comprises lots of fresh seafood, Thai dishes and western food as well. There is a mini exhibition in the Moken house and a gift shop.

Activities offered, include canoe, bicycle, table tennis and beach volleyball. At some times of the year bird watching and turtle watching is possible.
