Welcome to Island Hopping in the Andaman Sea of Thailand
Koh Phetra Islands National Park
Koh Petra Island is a small island off the coast of Trang Province, but in fact belongs to the more southern province of Satun. The cliffs of Koh Petra Island are rising out of the Andaman Sea to a height of 377 metres. There is a beautiful beach to the east of Koh Phetra Thailand but no other facilities. As Kho Petra Island is concessioned to swallow nest collectors, it is guarded (the Gold of the Andaman Sea) and visits there are not recommended. Other Andaman Islands Thailand, like the twin islands of Koh Liang Islands further north can be visited. Boats are available for renting at Ta-Sae Pier of Trang Province and on Koh Sukhon Island.
Moo Koh Phetra National Park headquarters can be reached by turning left about 3 kilometres before Pakbara Pier, it is 7 kilometres from La-Ngu district and about 56 kilometres from Satun town. At the headquarters of Koh Petra National Park a restaurant, a grocery, a souvenir shop, bathrooms and toilets including lodging houses are available and so is a campsite to serve tourists. Boats for island hopping Thailand to the Thailand Andaman islands can be rented at Ao Nun Beach. Ao Nun Beach, also called the greenery beach, is full of different sizes of trees. The constructions for the bridge leading to the lodging houses and the viewpoint are similarly to nature and the environmental surrounding. Along the nature trail to Ngai Hill, especially in the morning and evening, it is possible to find "Spectacled Langurs", an endangered species, hanging on the tree's branches. At the tourist centre, an exhibition about Koh Petra National Park's history and the plants and animals found in the Koh Phetra National Park is on display.
